San Andreas School Gas Leak Update
San Andreas, CA -- It took PG & E several hours to fix a gas leak that caused San Andreas Elementary School to be evacuated around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon. PG & E reports the leak was from a three inch plastic distribution main.
PG & E Spokesperson Brandi Ehlers says "A service representative found the leak and called a crew to repair it. We notified local law enforcement and emergency responders to let them know what's going on. It is then up to them to decide whether or not to evacuate an area and in this case they did."
Students were evacuated to Calaveras High School and buses were re-routed to get them home. Gold Strike Road outside the school was closed off for about 2 hours.
Calaveras Sheriff's Officials say no one was injured in the incident
