Columbia College Could Announce New President

Sponsored by:

Columbia, CA – It is down to three candidates, and the new Collumbia College President could be chosen tonight.

The Yosemite Community College District (YCCD) Board of Trustees regular meeting is tonight. There is a special provision or placeholder in the agenda to allow for a possible hiring announcement if the review of candidates is completed.

YCCD Spokesperson Nick Stavrianoudakis says, “Through the process of the public forums, Board interviews, and reference checks, in case all of that is completed, that placeholder is there and there is a possibility an announcement can be made tonight.”

The board will go into close session this afternoon and could make the decision on which of the three candidates will take over.  In March, amid a storm of controversy, the trustees voted to terminate the contract with President Dr. Dennis Gervin. (Click here for the earlier story)

Stavrianoudakis adds if the trustees do not choose a president this evening, they can call a special meeting or wait until their January meeting to reveal who will become the next head of Columbia College.
