New Details On Twin Brothers Deaths

Sponsored by:

Valley Springs, CA – The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office has released new information regarding the deaths of twin brothers near Valley Springs.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department confirms the mother, Julia Hall, had previous DUI’s. Sgt. Chris Hewitt says, “She was possibly intoxicated at the time that we responded to the house. We are awaiting toxicology results to find out exactly what kind of medications and or alcohol she had. Other than that I cannot comment further.”

22-year-old Ryan and Joshua Hall suffered from muscular dystrophy, and used breathing ventilators for life support. They died after deputies found the brothers in respiratory distress on November 12th at their Rancho Calaveras home during a PG&E power outage. That outage impacted nearly 100,000 customers in three counties, including Calaveras County. Their deaths led to a Sheriff’s investigation into whether the brother’s ventilators had failed due to a malfunction or the power outage. That equipment is now being examined and Sgt. Hewitt says they won’t know exactly what caused their deaths until the report comes back.

Hewitt says, “Nothing has been ruled out yet. An important part of this investigation is getting the forensic examination completed on the ventilators. Once we have that completed. We’ll be able to narrow our scope of the investigation, hopefully, and try to find out exactly what happened in that house.”

The brothers autopsies were done last week and investigators are waiting for the pathologists report.
