Dorrington, CA -- The land burned by the Ramsey Fire up by Dorrington is closed to visitors.

Jerry Snyder of the Stanislaus National Forest says it is for safety reasons. "We will have crews going in to see what trees can be taken down, and other actions we'll need to take to remove the hazards," says Snyder. "Plus we're going into fall, which could present problems with rain, erosion and that type of thing."

Because of the steep terrain, and the number of hazards inside the closure area, it will take a year to sufficiently remove all the safety hazards. The Forest Service is installing signs to alert the public of the closure.
