Booty For The Boot

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Firefighters held out the boot and residents pitched in to raise thousands for Muscular Dystrophy (MD). Earlier this month, the Tuolumne Calaveras Unit (TCU) of Cal Fire and the California Department of Firefighters (CDF) Local 2881 held a “Fill the Boot” fundraiser at the Junction Shopping Center off Mono Way in Sonora. The three hour event brought in $12,699.  Over the past five years, the TCU and CDF has raised a total of $59,730 for MD.

Cal Fire Capt. Mike Spear says, “This money will go to 36 Tuolumne County and 25 Calaveras County families. It will help with wheel chair repairs, research to find a cure, ramp accessibility, and a 100% wheel chair accessible summer camp for the kids in Groveland.”

All units of Cal Fire across the state have raised a total of 2.2 million in the past five years for MD.
