Man Chased Through Wal-Mart

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Sonora Police chased a man wanted for a felony warrant through Wal-Mart yesterday, Sunday, October 6. A person called the Sonora Police to report that Johnny Mobley, 20 of Sonora, was inside the Sonora Wal-Mart. The Sonora Police Department has been looking to arrest Mobley, for two outstanding warrants, since April of this year.

As officers arrived at Wal-Mart, Mobley took off running through the store. Police found out later that someone told Mobley that officers were arriving at the store. Mobley ran through the garden center door where officers started chasing him. Mobley then ran around a retaining wall, but when he observed another officer approaching, he jumped over the retaining wall he had just run around.

An employee from Wal-Mart observed what was occurring and attempted to block Mobley’s path to assist the officers. Mobley changed directions to cut around some pallets in an attempt to double back, but the same employee partially blocked Mobley’s path again, which slowed him a second time.

Mobley then attempted to jump over a planter box but as he did so, he turned to look at a pursuing officer. Mobley didn’t jump high enough, tripped over the planter box, and fell to the pavement. Mobley attempted to get up, but the officer was able to take Mobley into custody.

Mobley was in the possession of 12.1 grams of heroin, with an approximate street value of $1,200. He was also in the possession of 44 grams of marijuana.

Mobley was transported to Tuolumne County Jail and booked on two outstanding warrants for his arrest; one was an active “no bail” felony warrant for possession of drugs. He will also be held on new charges of felony possession of narcotics and misdemeanor obstruction of an officer.
