Rim Fire Recovery

Sponsored by:

Tuolumne County, CA — State and County Officials want to help private forest landowners to recover from the blaze. To do that they are holding a Rim Wildfire Workshop on October 17th from 1:00pm to 4:30 pm at the Groveland Community Hall on Highway 120 in Groveland. The University of California Cooperative Extension Natural Resource Conservation Service and the Tuolumne County Resource Conservation District have teamed up to put on the class.

Here are their workshop objectives:

• Present information on the role of wildfire in forest development and change
• Describe post-fire issues and treatment options for private landowners
• Provide information on post-fire treatment cost-share programs for private landowners
• Provide information on professional assistance for post-fire treatments

The group invites anyone concerned with forest management, defensible space and water quality to attend. They say that includes forest landowners, citizens, staff and decision makers with the state, local, federal and tribal agencies. For more information contact Susie Kocher at 530-542-2571 or sdkocher@ucanr.edu

Also, as previously reported, there will be another meeting at the Groveland hall this Monday, September 23rd at 7pm. This one is put on by the Burned Area Emergency Response Team (BAER) and will focus on their initial Rim Fire assesment findings. The meeting is sponsored by the Tuolumne County Office of Emergency Services.
