Rim Fire Discussion At Supervisors Meeting

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Supervisors will vote on items Tuesday related to the Rim Fire.

The first is whether to continue the “Local State of Emergency.” The California Emergency Services Act requires local governments to reassess emergency declarations at least every 30 days. The county declared a local State of Emergency on August 19th.

The Supervisors will also vote whether to send a letter to Stanislaus National Forest Supervisor Susan Skalksi asking that timber that was burned during the fire be harvested as soon as possible. It also calls for correspondence with the Burned Area Emergency Response Team (BAER), which is made up of 70 USFS employees working to coordinate recovery efforts in the forest.

In addition, the meeting will feature presentations about the Highway 108 Fire Safe Council activities and the Southwest Interface Team.

Tuesday’s meeting begins at 9am in the Supervisors meeting room. It will be streamed live in the multimedia section of myMotherLode.com.
