Sierra Conservation Center Correctional Officer Arrested
Jamestown, CA -- 27 year old Mathew Edward McCollum was arrested by California Department of Corrections officers Monday on suspicion of possessing drugs in prison, bringing drugs into the prison, selling drugs to inmates in addition to criminal conspiracy.
According to prison spokesman Lt. Kevin Wise McCollum was immediately removed from his duties. Wise commented, "More than likely as a result of these charges he will be terminated."
McCollum came to the 4,100 inmate facility in August of 2008 from a Department of Juvenile Justice position.
Wise saluted the Investigative Services Unit for keeping the investigation totally under wraps. He added the investigation is continuing.
