Bear Valley Snowmaking

Bear Valley, CA -- Bear Valley will open tomorrow morning at 9:00am but Dodge Ridge and Badger Pass remain closed.

Communications Manager Jason Smith says Bear Valley is excited to kickoff the 2011-2012 season.

The Bear Valley ski and snowboard resort has been making snow to make up for the lack of natural snowfall this season. Jim Gentling, Bear Valley General Manager says, "Despite high winds, power outages, and warm temperatures and of course the lack of natural snowfall, opening day is finally in sight."

Three chair lifts will be in operation with four beginner and intermediate runs.

Dodge Ridge will open as soon as the snow has stacked up on the ground. Jeff Hauff of the Dodge Ridge Marketing Department says the forecasters are sticking by their assessment that this La Niņa season will provide a large amount of snow and a long season into next year.

In an earlier report before Thanksgiving Amber Jenquin at Dodge ridge said "We are 100% ready to go. Once Dodge opens, our staff and facilities will be open for the season seven days a week."

The Badger Pass website states "Due to little snow on the ground and lack of snow in the forecast, it is unlikely that Badger Pass will open on Friday, December 16th, but Badger Pass associates are out in full force setting up the ski area, and we will groom and open as soon as we get significant snow on the ground."
