SRMC Breast Cancer Walk 2011
SRMC Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

Sonora, CA-- A lot of inspiration and a lot of pink shirts filled Sonora Regional Medical Center's parking lot Friday afternoon.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, SRMC held a special walk and rally.

"This is the first time we've done this," said SRMC spokesperson Gail Witzlsteiner. "And we're just happy to be able to feature the prominent women who have battled this disease and have come out positive on the other side."

The noontime event featured a number of speakers including new Breast Health Nurse Navigator Susan Troy and local breast cancer survivor, Diane Baumhover.

Those in attendance were also encouraged to write the names of people they knew who have been affected by breast cancer, including themselves, on the hospital helicopter pad. Minutes before the SRMC Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, the helicopter snapped an aerial picture of the written names and also a picture of the walkers.

Over 100 people participated in the one-mile walk around the hospital campus.
