Four Injured In Valley Springs Accident
Valley Springs, CA-- Four people were injured in a vehicle accident in Valley Springs yesterday.
The CHP reports that at around 2:45 pm, 71-year-old Patricia Baxter of Escalon and her passenger were traveling eastbound on Highway 26 toward Mokelumne Hill.
Rachel Mauzy, 18, was traveling with three passengers eastbound on Double Springs Road approaching a stop sign at Highway 26. According to witnesses, Mauzy failed to slow down for the stop sign and entered the intersection directly in front of Baxter.
The GMC Yukon Mauzy was driving was struck broadside by Baxter's BMW convertible, causing major damage to both vehicles. Baxter's BMV continued to travel north where it crashed into a barbed wire fence at the corner of the intersection.
Baxter and her passenger Thomas Baxter, 71, were transported to Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital for moderate injuries and released. Mauzy was uninjured, but her two passengers suffered minor injuries.
