Brown Seeking To Raise Fire Fee
Sacramento, CA-- California's annual fire-protection fee on rural property owners would rise from $150 to $175 under a new state bill.
The Associated Press reports that Governor Jerry Brown, who is proposing the legislation, also wants to ensure the revenue can be used by CAL Fire.
The state fire board last month voted to reduce the revenue the state had been expecting and charge no more than $90.
The bill, AB1X24, would require a fee of at least $175 on structures within the state's responsibility area.
