Sierra Nevada Winter Storm Warning Issued
A Winter Storm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for the Sierra Nevada through 11 PM on Sunday.
A cold, unstable low pressure system will bring possible heavy rain showers, snow, small hail, thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, funnel clouds and maybe even a brief tornado or two to the region.
Up to four inches of snow accumulation is expected below 6000 feet. Four to twelve inches of snow is likely above 6000 through 8000 feet.
Snow levels may drop to 2500 feet by Sunday evening with little or no accumulation.
Thundersnow is a possibility in the Sierra Nevada along with winds of twenty to forty mph. Wind gusts of forty to sixty mph are likely.
Icy roads may continue into Sunday night.
