Snow Plowing Continues
Sonora, CA - Plowing the roads in the high country is proving to be a challenge.
Tuolumne County Public Works Director Peter Rei says the focus over the weekend was to first clear the main roads. Because of the ongoing snow, Rei says plow drivers had trouble getting to the side roads and subdivisions. Now that the snow is letting up, plow drivers hope to make progress in the coming hours. Some roads may still experience a delay in snow removal today because of downed trees and power lines. Rei asks residents to please be patient and says crews are working as quickly and safely as possible. Fire crews from the Sierra Conservation Center have been called in to help with the cleanup of trees and branches.
Calaveras County Public Works crews are also busy today. They are asking residents to avoid driving on roads where snowplows have not passed through yet. Officials say that this is causing unnecessary accidents. Snowplows are running around the clock.
