The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the Motherlode through late Sunday night.

A series of storm systems are taking aim at northern and central California over the next three days.

Periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in the Motherlode through Sunday.

This additional rainfall will fall on saturated soils. Rivers and streams are already flowing at elevated levels and the anticipated rain could lead to urban and small stream flooding as well as localized rock, dirt or mudslides.

Additionally, a Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the Sierra Nevada from 1 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m Saturday, ending in a Winter Weather Advisory through 8 a.m.

Two to ten inches of snow accumulation is possible from 2500 through 4000 feet. Five inches to three feet of snow is likely above 5000 through 7000 feet.

Winds of fifteen to thirty mph are also expected with gusts from fifty to seventy-five mph, along the crest.
