Local Game Developers Compete Nationally
Valley Springs, CA -- The work of a husband and wife team of Mother Lode entrepreneurs has been accepted into the Apps for Healthy Kids competition led by First Lady Michelle Obama and the US Department of Agriculture.
Phil and Liz Weaver of Valley Springs will now compete with their online wellness application, "Break Pal-Fitness At Your Desk" against 30 other applicants in its category which were mostly developed by much larger corporate game developers. Apps for Healthy Kids challenges software developers, game designers, students and other innovators to develop fun and engaging software tools and games that drive children, directly or through their parents to eat better and to be more physically active.
The winning applications will be decided August 15 and be awarded $10,000. The winner will also be promoted for at least one year by the First Lady's "Let's Move" campaign, which hopes to end childhood obesity within a generation.
