This Museum has wonderful displays of some historic fire fighting equipment. In the gold rush days water was vital. Towns developed nearly overnight along streams rich with gold. When a fire did break out getting water to the fire on the roads that were little more than muddy horse trails had to be difficult. Several towns in the mother lode area burned to the ground- many more than once.
