Living with Fire

The University of California Cooperative Extension Office of Tuolumne County is hosting a workshop to discuss ways to protect your high-country property from wild fire. "Living with Fire: Managing Your Forest Property for Defensible Space" Registration of $10 includes catered lunch, hand-outs and snacks. Register on-line at http://cetuolumne.ucdavis.edu or by mailing a check for $10, payable to U.C. Regents, to UCCE, 2 South Green Street, Sonora, CA 95370.

The workshop is sponsored by UCCE, the UC Berkeley Center for Forestry, the Tuolumne County Resource Conservation District (RCD), Highway 108 FireSafe Council, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). Speakers include Stephen Quarles, UC Advisor - Wood Durability, who will be speaking about various construction materials and their flammable properties and Matthew McNicol, NRCS, who will be discussing forest stewardship. The Highway 108 FireSafe Council will show a video, "Living with Fire," presented by University of Nevada Cooperative Extension.
