Herbicide Workshop

Location: Creekside Building at the Fairgrounds in Sonora
Highway 108 FireSafe Council is inviting homeowners in the Sonora area, as well as surrounding communities, to spend an interesting morning learning about herbicides as a tool to effectively reduce flammable vegetation and restore fire safe landscaping around homes.
Industry Experts, Local Merchants, Tuolumne County Agricultural Commissioner and UC Cooperative Extension, Tuolumne County Resource Conservation District, Natural Resource Conservation District, representatives will explain and demonstrate the correct application of herbicides and showcase the most effective products for removing grass, thistle, bear clover, Manzanita brush, and other flammable plants.
Workshop attendees will learn-
- About herbicides and how they work
- When to effectively use herbicides
- Types of flammable vegetation that can be treated
- Types of herbicides that are available to homeowners
- Using the proper amount of herbicide
- Types of sprayers and equipment
- Application methods for the job
- Safety precautions, regulations, and label instructions
- When a permit is required for application
