AARP Speaker Series

Kathi Toepel will speak at the AARP, Blue Mountain, Chapter #732, regular monthly meeting on February 20, 2013, about training that is being offered soon in West Point, Murphys, and San Andreas by County Public Health and Catholic Charities.  This training is for those people who already have a chronic disease and who wish to help others in their community to learn self-management skills to better cope with the disease.  Participate in a one-time, no-cost 4-day training to learn the "Healthier Living" model (developed at Stanford University).  Co-lead two workshop series a year to receive a $100-stipend per workshop series.  Workshop series is six 2-hour sessions a week, local location and times to be arranged.  Anyone attending the AARP meeting in West Point on February 20 to learn about this training, please bring a potluck dish in order to remain for the lunch at noon.  AARP Chapter #732 serves Amador and Calaveras counties, meeting third Wednesdays at the West Point Community Hall, 22283 Hwy 26, West Point.  Local membership costs $5, but is not necessary for meeting attendance.  Meetings are open to the public.  Remember that potluck dish!  Call 293-7811.
