Bear Valley Music Festival GALA

Broadway, Jazz, Orchestra Favorites, the Old West, a Paris Gala and More!!!!
New locations and more intimate concerts bring a change of atmosphere, limited seating and a variety of talented guest artists to this year's Bear Valley Music Festival featuring: Broadway, Jazz, Cowboy classics, a children's event, and a special Midnight in Paris Gala along with many chamber orchestra favorites. Buying tickets early this year is most important, according to Executive Director, Irene Nielsen, due to limited seating. In some cases an early sellout gives Nielsen the option to add more concerts. She states that 2012 promises to be an enchanting and exciting concert series under the direction of Maestro Carter Nice.
The season opens on Friday, July, 27th with a Pops concert titled Broadway Bound as the Festival brings three future Broadway stars singing many of your favorites to enjoy in Bear Valley before these gifted singers find fame on the Great White Way.
Kid's Rule on the Kidz Konzert & Lunch Day on Saturday, July 28th, with a variety of creative musical-themed art activities for children to take home followed by a children's concert led by Principal Bassist David Murray and an after concert lunch. Parents are encouraged to participate in all activities with their children.

The evening of July 28th will find concert goers relaxing in the casual atmosphere of Bear Valley Lodge's pool as the area becomes an outdoor cool jazz club sponsored by Bear Valley Real Estate with renowned Emmy-nominated guitarist/composer Grant Geissman and his Cool Man Cool Band. Wine, beverages and catered Hors d'oeuvre plates will be offered for sale.

On July 29th, come casual or put on your western duds as we go old time cowboy for a delicious Western BBQ lunch on the mountain and concert with David John's popular Comstock Cowboys. The setting and view of the ski resort during the summer will serve as a great backdrop for this outdoor high energy event and delicious BBQ.
Nominated as songwriter and entertainer of the year by the Western Music Association, John's rich baritone voice and songs touch even those who aren't sure what western music is all about. He brings his knowledge of western heritage, cowboy legends, Wild West history, and fast horses into his songs and music to the delight of all.

This year's spectacular Gala theme is Midnight in Paris complete with enchanting décor, French music and themed catered dinner, a live and silent auction and more. Bear Valley goes to France on Saturday, August 4th, as attendees are encouraged to dress for a fun and fantastic night at the Moulin Rouge. Featured singer George Komsky and guests will perform a combination of French love songs, opera and Broadway classics. The gift of a golden voice, Mr. Komsky is predicted to be the next Andrea Bocelli.
Komsky learned to play piano and saxophone at eight, parroted Pavarotti by singing opera at eleven and began formal voice training as a teenager. As a member of Alamo's Monte Vista High School's Chamber Choir, he performed Verdi's Requiem at St. Paul's Basilica in Rome. He won the Edward Barlow Scholarship at the National Association of Teachers' Bay Area Singing Competition.
Donations are still needed including cash, housing, auction items and volunteers.
Seats are available for sale to the general public as of June 16, 2012. If a group of 14 or more wish to inquire about transportation from Murphys or Arnold contact the Festival office for assistance.
