The Autism Chronicles

03/21/2012
Hours:  7 p.m.
Location:  Bret Harte Performing Arts Center, 323 S. Main St., Angels Camp

Saturday, April 21, 7 p.m., will be the premiere performance of "The Autism Chronicles" in the Bret Harte Performing Arts Center, 323 S. Main St., Angels Camp.

The play, written by Mark Wilson and directed by his wife Terri, uses the dramatic story of the creation of the Mind Matters clinic to give the audience an insight into the world of autism.

Mark Wilson, who is the chairman of the Mind Matters Board of Directors, spent many hours interviewing clinic staff and those who have been served by the unique program the clinic offers. The result is a compelling series of vignettes told in the actual words of the characters portrayed.

"The subject of autism has had a lot of media attention recently," states Wilson. "But it is hard for the general public to fully comprehend the tremendous impact this disorder has on the individuals involved and their families. Our goal with this production is to give insight using the unembellished tales of those who suffer and the Mind Matters team members who are helping ease the burdens."

"The Autism Chronicles" is being produced in conjunction with the Murphys Creek Theatre. Admission is ten dollars. Information may be obtained, and reservations made by calling 728-2184 or online at murphyscreektheatre.org/buy-tickets.
