Sonora Sales Tax Issue May Go To The Voters

It might mean nearly a million dollars for the police and fire departments, but is a city sales tax the way to go about it? Mayor Marlee Powell says it should go to the voters... and the money is needed.

"We're down one police officer right now, because of financial reasons. We really need to have additional staffing at the fire house. We do have all the equipment now, but the staffing is not quite up to standard," said Mayor Powell.

Powell says the sales tax is the most likely option, and it would probably produce the most revenue for the city.
