Suspect Arrested After Stealing and Stranding County Truck

Calaveras County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a rather unusual report of a stolen truck in Murphys yesterday. 22-year-old suspect Charles Ormond had to use the two-way radio inside the county road department truck he had stolen to call for help when the truck got stuck on Ponderosa Road. Ormond told radio dispatchers that he wanted to turn himself in. He was arrested without incident, and is being sent back to prison for a parole violation.
