Sonora, Ca -- By a 4-1 vote, the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors has given the green light to the 600 home Mountain Springs Community Project.
Earlier this year, the developers had proposed an 897 home project. Following negotiations between Mt. Springs and area environmental groups, the project was reduced to 600 homes. Other changes included increasing the remaining agricultural land from 80 to 160 acres, and reducing the amount of secondary homes from 39 to 26. As far as the total property tax benefit for the County, the Developers are estimating that through the year 2024, it will be just shy of $60 million.
“We've been working on this for a number of years,” says Mt. Springs Operations Manager Ron Kopf. “We've worked hard to work with the adjacent property owners and opposition groups.”
Casting the lone dissenting vote against the project was Fourth District Supervisor Mark Thornton.
