Cox Proposes Changes To Budget Process

Sacramento, Ca -- First District Republican State Senator Dave Cox is proposing three major changes to the overall budget process.

Cox would like to see a consideration of a two year budget, a Senate Budget Committee composed of all 40 Senators, and an overall reduction in committee assignments to allow more time to concentrate on budget oversight.

“The current process allows the majority to ignore the minority until the very end of the process when a two-thirds vote is required,” says Cox in his weekly Capitol Report. “Compromise must be encouraged earlier.”

Cox's First District covers Calaveras County.
