Jamestown, CA -- Some unrest continues at the Sierra Conservation Center regarding the new integration policy that has been introduced at the Jamestown facility.
Lt. Jimmy Hurtado comments that basically all Level One and Level Two inmates reported for breakfast and work detail Thursday. Level Two inmates have demonstrated the greatest protest of the three levels at the 4,100 inmate prison. Thursday 48 new arrivals were processed and 25 of them refused to comply to the new policy and have been confined to Administrative Segregation which is a lockup unit. Hurtado says they will be evaluated at a later date. There were some minor problems but no violence has been reported.
The new integration policy of assigning inmates to available bunks rather than by bunking them by ethnicity is also being introduced at Mule State Prison in Ione.
