Sonora, CA -- By a unanimous vote of the City Council Monday evening Lt. Mark Stinson was appointed to succeed Mace McIntosh as Chief of Police effective December 27, 2008.
He has an Associates Degree in Administration of Justice, Bachelors degree in Business Management and a Masters degree in Public Administration. Stinson brings 27 years of experience to the position. Stinson served four years with the Modoc County Sheriff's Department, 13 years with the Red Bluff Police Department and eight years with the Shasta County District Attorney's Office.
On the job Stinson has been involved with homicide investigation, Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT), traffic officer, gang investigator, major crimes investigator and school attendance investigator.
