Sonora, CA -- 66 year old Judith Hastings of Sonora, driving a 2005 Infinity, suffered major injuries including broken ribs and a fractured pelvis following a two vehicle accident on Phoenix Lake Rd. and Ridgewood at 11am today.
49 year old Jerry Anderson of Sonora, driving a 2003 Chevrolet 2500 pickup, was eastbound on Phoenix Lake Rd. at 35mph. Hastings was northbound on Ridgewood Drive and stopped at the intersection waiting to make a left hand turn. Hastings proceeded to pull into the intersection directly in front of Anderson's vehicle. Anderson's vehicle ran onto the south shoulder of the roadway and came to rest. Anderson exited the vehicle as it caught fire. A small vegetation fire ensued.
Hastings was pinned in her vehicle and had to be extracted with the "jaws of life" by engine E902 from the Tuolumne County Fire Department (Station 51-Mono Village).
Anderson suffered only minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. No arrest was made.
