Sonora, Ca -- Community members walked the streets of downtown Sonora Saturday morning to raise money to help feed the less fortunate.
The annual “Walk Against Hunger” was to support the A-TCAA Food Bank. “It was absolutely fantastic,” says supporter Colleen Henry. “I was overwhelmed at the onslaught of people that were here this morning."
Food Bank Director Lee Kimball is estimating that around 1,000 participants took part in the walk. “It is a difficult year with the economy going the way that it is, so we have a whole lot of need,” says Kimball. “But we had a whole lot of people show up to do something about it, so it was great.”
Last year the walk raised around $8,000. Kimball says they will not know how much money was raised this year until later next week when all of the pledges are collected.
