New Band Director Selected For Sonora High

Sonora, Ca -- Yvonne Denton has been selected by the Sonora Board of Education to lead the prestigious Golden Regiment Band.

Denton is a Sonora High graduate and has spent the past 13 years teaching music at Jamestown Elementary School. She says that she is looking forward to leading a program with such a strong following and support network.

“It is not my program,” says Denton. It's really the students, parents and community's program here in Tuolumne County.”

Denton credits her former Band Director Pat Sieban as being one of her role models, and she hopes to carry on the legacy that he started 25 years ago. Sieban left at the end of 2007 and was replaced by Gregory Grant, who later resigned on June 30th of this year.
