Sonora, CA -- A single vehicle accident on Crestview Drive darkened the homes of many eastside residents Tuesday evening.
According to CHP Officer Tom Wills the driver was identified as 20 year old Daniel Ray Thompson of Sonora. He was driving a 2001 Chevy S-10 pickup truck. According to STAR 92.7 Program Director and Co-Morning host Justin Flores Thompson came close to hitting his daughter Jody while she was walking the family dog on Creekside Drive.
Thompson then turned on Crestview Drive where he lost control of his vehicle and hit a power pole guide wire. Thompson did not appear to suffer any serious injuries. Alcohol and/or speeding were not contributing factors to this accident.
P.G.& E. Spokesperson Nicole Tam reports that 4,385 customers lost power immediately following the accident at 8:46pm. 3,260 had their power restored by 10:13pm while the remaining 1,125 saw their lights come back on at 10:52pm.
Tam adds that Thompson will be solely responsible for all expenses in restoring power to the more than 4,000 customers affected by the accident.
