Sheriff's Department Now Says 23 Injured In Ride CollapseSaturday, May 17, 2008 - 06:15 AM

Sonora, Ca -- The Calaveras County Sheriff's Department is now reporting that 23 were injured as part of last night's carnival ride collapse at the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee.
Three of the victims suffered moderate to severe injuries and were transported via air ambulance to U.C. Davis Medical Center, Memorial North Hospital in Modesto and Doctors Hospital in Modesto.
The exact extent of the injuries is unknown at this time, but the Sheriff's Department says there were no fatalities.
The remaining victims were either transported by ambulance or private vehicle to hospitals in San Andreas, Sonora and Jackson.
All rides at the fair have been shut down until further notice. All other programming is continuing as scheduled. Last night's incident occurred shortly after six o'clock.
