Supervisors Discuss Closure Of Groveland Physical Therapy Unit

Tuesday, May 13, 2008 - 07:30 PM

Sonora, Ca -- The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors is planning to continue the operations of the Groveland Physical Therapy Unit through the 2008/09 budget year, with plans of possibly turning it over to a private provider by fiscal budget year 2009/10.

The Supervisors vote 4-1 at Thursday's meeting, with Supervisor Liz Bass in opposition. As for the Acute Psych Unit in Sonora, the Board is planning to fund the operation until January 1st.

Both facilities could come up for debate again on June 17th, when the budget is discussed by the Board.

Also, a new chapter was approved for the Tuolumne County ordinance code dealing with the rules and regulations set for Lake Tulloch. The ordinance deals with speed limits, fishing, swimming, boating and other regulatory matters. The purpose of the ordinance, the same that will go up for vote in Calaveras County, is to make sure both counties are enforcing the same laws.

In other business, Laurel Utecht was recognized as the Commission on Aging's 2008 "Outstanding Volunteer of the Year." Utecht started the first curbside recycling program in Tuolumne County back in the late eighties. She has also been actively involved with numerous community service clubs.
