Sonora, CA -- Wildcat senior Kevin Rei has struck gold in his last two tournaments.
Monday Rei captured the Division 4 CIF Championship at Greenhorn Creek by shooting a 75. Rei was competing in the field of 62 golfers from the Mother Lode and the Valley. A week prior at Saddlecreek in Copperopolis, Rei won the Valley Oak League individual title shooting a 78 out of a field of 48.
Rei's coach at Sonora High, Steve Lee, says he will dearly miss Rei when he graduates June 5 because he has been such a significant fixture on the Wildcats' golf team. In addition to his outstanding ability Lee states that Rei has been a great help to the younger players who lack his experience.
In the classroom, Lee adds that unlike the "typical jock" who sits in the back of the classroom and cracks jokes, Rei is always in the front row giving full attention to the material at hand.
Rei is a four-time V.O.L. First Team selection. Following graduation he will attend Chico State University where he has accepted a full golf scholarship.
