San Andreas, CA -- By order of CAL Fire, all debris burning, whether you have a permit or not, has been indefinitely suspended in the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit effective 8am today.
Fire Prevention Bureau Chief Dennis Townsend stated, "We reviewed the burn indexes and fuel mositure and found that they are almost at a critical peak. That usually doesn't occur until late June. We have been running so many escaped debris burns that we owe it to the public to do something to safeguard their lives and their property. It only takes one burn to escape and destroy a home and we couldn't take that risk." Written by bill.johnson@mlode.com
