Yosemite, CA -- Yosemite National Park Superintendent Mike Tollefson announced the official opening of Glacier Point Rd. over the weekend.
Glacier Point is located approximately 30 miles from Yosemite Valley off Wawona Rd. which is the section of Hwy 41 within the park's boundaries. Additionally the Mariposa Grove Rd. is open for vehicles under 24 feet in length and under seven tons in weight. These temporary restrictions are due to continuing wet and icy conditions on the roadway.
No date has been determined for the opening of the Bridalveil Campground or Tioga Pass (Hwy 120 outside the park). According to Ranger Scott Gediman it is hoped that Tioga Pass will be opened by the first of June if not earlier.
