Phoenix Lake Vegetation Fire Fully Controlled In Seven HoursThursday, April 17, 2008 - 08:15 AM

San Andreas, CA -- According to CAL Fire Emergency Command Center Communications Operator Jim DeVoll, the 28 acre Phoenix Lake Fire was initially reported at 1:28pm on a 911 call.
The fire started when a gust of wind carried sparks from a debris burn into dry vegetation. The fire quickly spread and was not contained until 4:04pm CAL Fire listed the fire as totally controlled at 8:39pm. The response included one battalion chief and engines from Sonora City, Mono Village, Moccasin, Twain Harte, Tuolumne City, MiWuk-Sugar Pine, Columbia College, Tuolumne Rancheria, Tuolumne County and a Jamestown water tender plus Helicopter 404 from the Columbia Air Base.
Traffic control was in effect at Potato Ranch Rd. and Sena Lane. Two engines and two hand crews will be on site today for the mop up operation.
