Jamestown, CA -- Firefighters from the Sierra Conservation Center took time out for their everyday duties Tuesday to participate in their first ever Fill The Boot For Burns Day fundraiser.
S.C.C. Firefighter Paul Vizcarra says the purpose of the program is to raise funds to help support recovery programs that can be utilized by the general public, other burn programs funded by the Firefighter Burn Institute and the Firefighters Kids Camp for Young Burn Survivors. The program was initiated a number of years ago when an off-duty firefighter was killed while dining with his family when an airplane hit the restaurant.
During the six hour fundraiser at Sierra Conservation Center, $1,114.75 was raised.
