Sonora, Ca -- The Mother Lode is seeing its share of wet weather this afternoon, and the National Weather Service says the worst is yet to come.
A Winter Storm Warning for the Sierra Nevada will begin at 6pm Saturday and continue until 10pm Sunday. Snow levels are expected to lower to around 4,500 by Sunday morning. Snow accumulations of around three ft. are expected at the higher elevations. In the Mother Lode specifically, a High Wind Watch is in effect from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning. The winds will be accompanied by moderate to heavy rain which is expected to cause poor driving conditions.
Power outages are also a possibility. Residents can take precautions by securing loose objects and cutting back loose tree limbs.
