Sonora, Ca -- CHP Officer Tom Wills says that weather is causing problems for travelers in areas of the Mother Lode this afternoon.
“The roadways are getting real slick as we have some low lying snowfalls coming in,” says Wills. “Temperatures are dropping very rapidly.” Wills notes that Twain Harte Rd is an area that has been slick at times this afternoon. Caltrans has been called in to place sand along the Twain Harte Grade.
There have also been numerous accidents on Tuolumne Rd, and in Calaveras County on Hwy 4, notably near Arnold.
There are reports of light snow this afternoon in areas as low as 3,000 ft.
