Riverside, CA -- According to CAL FIRE officials only four fires remain under the 100% containment mark.
The largest of those fires is the 197,990 acre Witch Fire in San Diego County. This blaze is 99% contained with full containment expected by the end of the day. This fire has cost the state $15.4 million to date. The Poomacha Fire, adjacent to the Witch Fire, is only 70% contained. It has burned 49,540 acres and cost $10.5 million.
The arson-set Santiago Fire in Orange County is now 80% contained. It has burned 28,445 acres and has cost $11.6 million.
The smallest of the under 100% contained fires is the Slide Fire in the San Bernardino National Forest. The 97% contained fire has burned 12,759 acres and its current price tag is $16.7 million.
