Sonora, CA -- A fast moving storm coming out of the valley has brought rain and lightning strikes to the Mother Lode.
Stanislaus National Forest Fire Dispatch Manager Bill Barrios in Sonora counts at least seven small fires that have been lightning caused. All have been single tree strikes with no apparent danger to any residential communities or structures. The S.N.F. has a helicopter scouting possible "smokes" in the vicinity of Yosemite National Park.
Earlier today a passing Caltrans crew quickly extinguished a lightning caused fire at the Vallecito Bypass and Bowling Green Drive. There were no injuries and no structural damage was reported in that early afternoon fire.
