San Andreas, CA -- Close to $10,000 is up for grabs by local residents looking to control Yellow Star Thistle on their properties.
The Calaveras County Environmental Management Agency announced today a grant has been made available through the California Department of Food and Agriculture. The goal is to stop the spread of Yellow Star Thistle and smooth distaff thistle into the Stanislaus National Forest.
Property owners with land contiguous to Forest Service land will receive top priority.
Applications must be received by October 26. For more information, contact the Calaveras County Department of Agriculture at (209) 754-6504.
