English Motorcyclist Killed Near New Melones Lake Bridge

San Andreas, CA -- In a single vehicle accident an English motorcyclist was killed on Hwy 49 just before two o'clock this afternoon.

CHP Officer Jaime Castillo states the southbound rider failed to negotiate a sweeping right hand 30 mph curve south of Carson Hill while approaching the New Melones Lake Bridge.

The motorcyclist was airlifted to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

This fatality marks the fourth this weekend in Calaveras County and the thirteenth of the year. Five of those fatalities have been motorcycle involved.

The name of the deceased will be released upon notification of next of kin.
