Downum Orders 20-Year Plan

Tuesday, June 26, 2007 - 01:25 PM

San Andreas, CA -- A plan for the next 20 years is in the works for the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department.

Tuesday the Board of Supervisors approved hiring a consultant for $35,000 to complete the plan that will focus on future staffing needs.

Sheriff Dennis Downum says the goal is to find out where the department is and where it's going. He says it will identify the expectations of the community, staffing needs and response times.

Portions of the plan could be incorporated in the county's General Plan, which is currently going through an update.

Downum agreed to work with the General Plan consultants to make sure there are no duplications of efforts.
