Huge Bike Ride In Calaveras This Weekend

Murphys, CA -- Residents and visitors to Calaveras County this weekend should be aware of the 2,000 bicyclist that plan to share the road for the Sierra Century Ride.

The ride takes place Saturday and is sponsored by the Sacramento Wheelmen bicycling club.

The ride will begin at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys and travel to West Point and back via Sheep Ranch Road and eventually up Murphys Grade Road. Several county roads will be affected during the ride.

Organizers are working with local authorities to raise awareness for riders' safety.

This is the first year the ride will take place in Calaveras County. It was previously held in Amador and El Dorado counties.
