Modesto Teens Hurt In Mother Lode Accident

Tuesday, May 29, 2007 - 10:00 AM

Moccasin, CA -- Two Modesto teens were seriously injured in a Saturday evening Mother Lode vehicle accident.

According to the CHP and the Stockton Record, it was 18 year old Matthew Tilford, a senior at Modesto's Davis High School, who was driving a Dodge Ram Crew Cab at a high rate of speed that plunged off Hwy 49 cliff four miles south of Moccasin Saturday evening at 10:30. The pickup rolled down a 600 foot embankment.

Tilford was ejected through the driver's side door. He was lifeflighted to Stanford Hospital where he has undergone surgery after suffering major injuries. Tilford was accompanied by five other Davis seniors. Outside of Tilford the most seriously injured was 18 year old Brandon Stilwill; he suffered a fractured skull and a punctured lung.

The CHP reports that alcohol and drugs played no part in the accident.
