Mechanical Failure Is The Cause Of Thursday's Tractor-Trailer Accident

Friday, April 27, 2007 - 02:00 PM

Groveland, Ca -- The CHP reports that a mechanical failure is to blame for a tractor-trailer losing its load on New Priest Grade Thursday afternoon.

29-year-old Robert L. Miller of Groveland was driving a 1986 Peterbuilt dump truck with a two-axle trailer. His brakes reportedly locked up while going into a turn 1/4 mile down from the top of the grade. The trailer overturned and blocked traffic in both directions.

Falling off the trailer was a forklift that leaked diesel fuel on the roadway. It took approximately 2.5 hours for crews to get everything removed, and temporary repairs made to the road.
